I gotta wrangle me some Pinatas…

…no, not real ones for my non-gaming pals. (I know you’re out there you non-gaming heathens! Get with the program already!)

I started playing Viva Pinata on my XBox 360 on Thursday. And I’m now waking up in the middle of the night wondering if my pinatas are ok. Am I romancing them enough? Will I have enough whirlms for my sparrowmints? How can I get a bigger garden? How can I get a rare eagleair to visit my garden?

This one was marketed for families with kids – it’s easily the most colorful game I’ve played in awhile, lots of saturated yellows, reds and greens. But a lot of my co-workers started playing it over the holidays and recommended it to me at lunch this week. It’s sort of a cross between Animal Crossing, The Sims and Pokemon. But not really – and I think that’s what I like best about it. It’s a unique new title that borrows great elements from other games, but infuses it with it’s own style, personality and humor.

Gotta go… the Pinatas are waiting.
