Feeding my soul

I took yesterday off and have barely been online today either. I’ve checked work email a couple times, but have focused on getting outside (the weather in SF is absolutely perfect – warm and sunny and really pretty fabulous): planting flowers and vegetables, sitting in parks and drinking beer, and eating brunch at cafes with outdoor tables. Tonight I’m off to a 40th bday party for a friend and tomorrow a pal o’mine will show up around noon to spend the day and evening with me.

If I’m going to work this much, I really need to remember to step away from it for breaks. As much as I love it, I need to do other stuff too. I’m actually at the point now where I’m eager to get back into the groove and spend some quality time with my task list. But that’ll wait until Monday.

I got a new ficus for the living room. I bought a new chair (at the warehouse sale at DWR so it didn’t cost my whole paycheck) that will live in my living room, but can also make trips out to the deck in nice weather. I may go get another one tomorrow.

So the equation is: new stuff + days off + brunch, parks, parties = happier Oddgirl

Yes, I’m alive…

Sorry I haven’t posted much. Life is approaching the excrutiatingly boring with work being the main activity. Life is boring, but work is good. Mostly my life is about quickly procured food from any one of the 4 restaurants within walking distance to the office. Occasional visits to bars. Twitters about work and bars.

Should be mostly free of work this coming weekend. Lots of birthday plans. Food/drinks/friends/sleeping.

Maybe I should use this as my personal ad…

The 10 Real Reasons Why Geeks Make Better Lovers

It’s actually pretty close to how I see myself.

This Face thing is cool.

In lieu of geting another kitten, I’ve gone back to playing with the Hot-or-Not of the kitten world. As much as Cheese would probably want a friend, I can’t get another cat.

Puzzle Quest pwns me. I haven’t been this addicted to a DS game since I was playing Mario Kart.

Things I missed because I was sick all weekend…

Throat = sore. Cough = loud. Brain = fuzzy. And cabin fever is setting in.

While I did have dinner with the parents out in Lafayette on Friday night and then a rousing night of squid hunting with some other game producer-y types, the rest of the weekend was a wash. Didn’t make it out into the gorgeous day on Saturday and then missed a party in the night-time hours. Didn’t bother with plans today. Still haven’t really dug into the work I should be doing (see: Brain = fuzzy). That’s gonna end up being a problem in a day or so – I’m soooper behind. But I can’t concentrate.

Feeling doubtful about work and have already cancelled both Monday and Tuesday nights plans. I’m down for the count. Send ice cream.
