My Personal DNA

I don’t usually take these kind of tests – and this one didn’t really have any major surprises, but it is a well-done quiz implemenation.

My extroversion is high. My feminity is low.

Shocking.

I, for one, welcome my new You’re-Working-Late-Tonight overlords…

Not late every single night, but I’m definitely getting lots of my best work done after the place quiets down a bit and the meetings have ended. Been focusing hard on playing the game more and answering fewer emails. The volume of email has now reached epic stage – I came out of two hours of meetings the other day to find 160 unread emails. Sure, a percentage of them were just Read & Absorb Lite, but there were a fair amount that needed a response within a day.

After a day of futzing with it, my wireless connection seems fixed. Hurrah! Apparently Channel 6 sucks, but other channels don’t when it comes to wireless networks. Who knew?

There’s finally a new game out for the DS that I actually want called Puzzle Quest. Going to try and get it this week, but have heard it is hard to find in these parts. Haven’t had a DS game that I’ve wanted to pick up in awhile so this is a good thing.

The ‘rents are in town this weekend. I’m seeing them for dinner on Friday somewhere out in the hinterlands of Concord. I have no freakin’ clue about food options out there….

oh the hate.

I’ve been having problems with my wireless connection at home and it’s making me fill up with the hate. Pages don’t load. GmailStatus fails at checking my mail. Grrr. And the problem is that I have no idea what is causing it. I’ve checked the router and I don’t think that anyone else is getting into my network – I don’t see anything in the logs. I don’t see any other devices on my network. If you are out there fucking with me… I hate you.

takin’ care of business

Now that I’m working weekends again, I’m needing to fit in errands in a much more deliberate way. Pick 2. Do them on Saturday. Pick 1. Do it on Sunday. Don’t forget to pay taxes. Pick up mail. Get to watch repair place before noon. Laundry? Monday, maybe? sigh.

But, I did get to the watch repair shop today and picking up my newly repaired Heuer was like seeing an old friend that I’ve missed but didn’t even realize how much. I’m not sure any accessory I’ve ever had has provoked as sentimental of a feeling in me. It’s running again and back on my wrist where it belongs, and the guy who fixed it even commented on how beautiful it was. Classic sport watch. I fucking love this watch.

Our new corp. gym membership started last week and I had all my stuff to head to the gym today for the first time in over a year. Found the somewhat elusive entrance and discovered that they are closed on weekends. Ok. That just sucks. I was soooo ready. Will try again on Monday…

To ski or not to ski?

Heading to Tahoe later this week. Thinking about possibly a half day of skiing. Not sure my knee is up to any more than that. If not, it’ll be snowshoeing, some games (still checkin’ with the homies to see if there is any negative vibes on bringing up my Wii – sometimes this group is bit less digital than me, but certainly there will be board gaming. Yay!), some sushi and a whole lotta friend time. Sadly, there will be a bit of work as the never-ending review process is apparently, well, never-ending.

The weather has been pretty fab here in SF, and should be somewhat gorgeous in Tahoe as well – more like spring than winter for sure.

It’s good that I have a little getaway planned as another SXSW has passed me by… I’m hereby vowing to go next year. Only thing that will stop me is if we haven’t shipped. And basically if we haven’t shipped my life will be a certain type of hell at that point anyhow… While it was fun watching the messages twitter past me, I was pretty jealous of the panels, keynotes, beers and bbqs that were all happening down in Austin. Next year hopefully I’ll be there, maybe speaking about how the pollinated content system turned out.

After night, there is morning.

The subject of this post is a line from a movie I saw yesterday called Amazing Grace and when it was delivered, I grinned an ironic little grin. Sitting in the dark theater watching a movie about a topic I didn’t even know I was interested in, this line knocked me down a bit and reminded me that there will be weeks where it’s hard to see how it can get better. And then they will end and a new week will start.

But more than that, this movie hit me that while the project I’m on is a big fish in small pond of an industry, we actually aren’t changing the world. And that for me to forget that is arrogant and presumptuous.

Random bits

Tonight is a lunar eclipse – the moon should turn a pretty cool shade of red a little after 6 pm for people on my coast. Since I have to work today, I’m thinking about getting out later this afternoon and driving somewhere where I met get a decent view. Also thinking about crashing my friends group outing to the SF Treasure Hunt.

Lots of snow up in the mountains. Lots of sunshine here in the City. Lots of beauty out there. Spring fever is totally poking at me.

I have about a million errands to do today. I should really get rockin’

Haven’t done a list lately:

Listening: Lily Allen
Playing: WoW (still/again), Sims Life Stories, Lumines Live, Wario Smooth Moves.
Reading: Made to Stick
Watching: The L Word, Heroes, Lost, Prison Break (mostly catching up on Tivo’ed stuff)
Next movie I really want to see: 300
Doing: Not much. Working, then going home after work mostly.
Eating: Nothing exciting. Haven’t had a fabulous meal in ages. Need to fix that soon.
