February 2006

then…

… I get awakened this morning by an incredibly loud and close thunder bolt. and i barely slept from the frustration inside (see previous post)

and now it’s hailing. and the cat is freaking out.

what’s that say about what today is going to be like? should I just crawl back into bed?

gonna be a busy rest o’ the week…

So my boss and the Producer I work most closely with are out on holiday for the rest of the week, and then yesterday another junior producer found out he needs to be out today and maybe tomorrow. And this with a milestone closing on Monday. And the next milestone in the planning/scheduling stages. And I’m off to Tahoe on Friday for the weekend so I need to get a mess of stuff done before I check out.

But for now, I’m sitting on the couch having a cup of coffee, ordering flowers for my mom’s birthday (which was yesterday… Doh!), making a list of things I need to do before I go to China (like pick a hotel in Hong Kong) and taking a what may be my last breath of the day.

Had dinner with another game producer pal last night. Talked shop. Ate yummy scallops. He’s a good one for me to talk to since he used to work for EA and now works not for EA; that gives him a good perspective. And his game is as different from mine as is possible so I always learn something from him.

must. get. in. shower….

i haven’t procrastinated this bad in ages!

I used to write posts about procrastinating when I was in school. I think I blog best when I use it to avoid things I’m supposed to be doing.

Today’s blog entry is brought to you by (drum roll, please…) my avoidance of writing my GDC presentation!

An oldie, but a goodie. The Red Square game (not the communist red square…).

I want to see this movie to see how they use live action photography and an animation technique called interpolated rotoscoping. Not because I’m some big Keanu fan. A Scanner Darkly

This film has a completely different look than A Scanner Darkly, but I want to see Planet One too. I love the building texture and design in the second screen shot.

weekend update

while the east coast is crazy blanketed in snow we in the bay area have been enjoying warm gorgeous days and for the first weekend in a couple weeks i wasn’t sick and got to get out and do a little hiking and enjoy my friends and the weather.

so while i worked a bit on Saturday, this weekend i also walked around my neighborhood, hiked up in Marin and watched a bunch of the Olympics. a yummy dinner at the Buckeye Roadhouse last night (mmmm…. baby back ribs and a big glass of Stella).

and i’m starting to figure out what my trip to China is going to look like – just got email from my guy in Hong Kong about some details. planning TBD.
