Archives searchable again

I think my upgrade to the new software is now complete. All of my archives have properly imported and are searchable again. The version of WordPress that I’m using now is only a release candidate, so there may be additional glitches I have yet to uncover, but importing and upload is working again. w00t!

mmmm….. carbs.

The top foods I crave when I’m sick:

  • Cinnamon toast w/sourdough bread
  • Cheez-its
  • Grilled cheese sanwiches
  • Popcorn

I also like oranges (satsuma tangerines to be specific), but mostly I focus my germ-y desires on breads and other members of the carbohydrate sisterhood. If I was on the Atkins diet and sick, I’d lose sooo much weight.

gosh darn. i hate being sick

woke up around 2 am today with my throat so sore i couldn’t swallow. ouch. ouch. ouch. no talking for me today.

so now i’m snacking on cheez-its, drinking a Fresca and catching up on hours of tivo that i’ve been neglecting due to the resurgence of my WoW habit. it’s been a mix of Law and Order(s), Scrubs, CSI, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. i keep having to lay down. my kitchen is stocked (thanks to my lovely gf) and the cat is curled up nearby. my head hurts. i’m sleepy, but can’t sleep.

in other news Puppy is now lvl 41 and can summon a Felsteed whenever he wants. if only i could sit up long enough to play today.

babies and pals; work and ‘taking China’

I’ve been trying to be over with baby and her family a bunch recently. Dinners and showers and as much time as they’ll have me around. She’s soft, sweet, quiet and a wonder. Watching my chosen family cater and swoon over her, pass her around gently, cradle her while she slept. Yummy tea sandwiches, scones with lemon curd, champagne and constant toasts. Dinners with salmon and the goat cheese corn and great conversation, and friends with dreamy, glowing looks on their faces as they look at the new person in our lives.

Other than that, I’ve been catching up with friends who I haven’t seen since before the holidays, starting to work more – lots to do. Still playing a fair amount of WoW. Yes, still.

And on top of that I might be going to China in March to try and figure out how we can make our game work for that market. It’s not the first place I’d pick to travel to, but I’m guessing it’ll be absolutely fascinating. Shanghai. Wacky world.

and so it begins…

It’s looking like this could be my first really busy week at work. Between that and the imminent arrival of Noggin (my pal’s new baby) this could be some kinda week. I have a pile of stuff on my plate ranging from building out task lists for the next two milestones to playing a couple new games to do some competetive analysis – screen capture-o-rama.

Weekend round-up: some lovely time with my lovely girlfriend, errands galore, an evening with Staz and the Engineer, dinner and Apples to Apples with Noggin’s extended family, a few hours of scheduling work, and a couple hours of WoW time with my Horde Sunday crew.

Things I need to do: plan a trip to Las Vegas to see the fam; figure out when I can get up to Tahoe to play in the snow; and goto MacWorld; get my mount.

But for tonight I just need to get some sleep.

The joy of upgrading to new blogging software

So, I had the great idea of switching to WordPress over the holidays so I’d have some time to get my old blog imported and futz around with the look and feel of the site. I wasn’t really paying attention to the fact that it was a brand, spanking new release of their software.

Mostly it went smoothly until I tried to import my old Movable Type entries. I’ve been blogging for over 4 years now so I was really hoping to be able to get it all into the new format, but there appears to be a problem with the way the permissions are configured on my Laughing Squid account. For now you can browse the archives, but you can’t search them. I am working on it and will get it resolved eventually.

I did get the my flickr stuff working for the last two pics I’ve taken with my phone. I started setting up categories. And I did spend quite a few hours reading the WordPress support boards for solutions.
