the cold that wouldn’t go away…

wow – this one is a hanger on. mostly laid low this weekend, but still have a little bit of a cough and yesterday i felt just plain tired all day. trying to conserve energy so i don’t miss work. just don’t want to be any more behind.

this weekend i was graced with a visit from my old friend Derek. he was in town to do some emcee work at the Folsom Street Fair and we met up for dinner on Friday with my new gay boyfriend from work, Derek’s new lesbian, Big-n-Silly and some other assorted Derek groupies. it was one of those times where ya don’t see someone for 4 years and it just doens’t matter because the conversation and laughter come so easily – like you see them all the time. love that boy. even tho i’m not his lesbian anymore.

work has officially amped up. i didn’t work this weekend, but i should have. i now have more than i can get done in my regular office hours. i think it’ll be a bit busier, then it will mellow out a little again and then by January i’ll disappear off the grid for awhile.

if you’re not busy on Thursday – swing by El Rio. fundraiser thing for the SF Bay Blades (rowing club) – help send my girl to Montreal to row with her team and enjoy one of my favorite dives at the same time. email me for details, eh?

post-labor day acceleration

Over the last week or two, work has definitely amped up a couple notches. In a really good way. I’m getting more involved with more of the moving parts of the project and starting to see my work have an impact. I get more excited about being on the project every week, even as some days completely swamp me.

And on the horizon, a few new games are on the way that I can. not. wait. for. Burnout Revenge (xbox) and Legends (psp). Age of Empires III – shopping for a new PC to play this one. I heart Katamari, Shadows over Colussus, Tiger Woods 2006… finally the dog days of summer are over and the game floodgates are opening. Currently playing Nintendogs (the game that spurred me to finally buy a DS) – I have a super cute miniature dachsund named Bacon. If I can’t have a real dog, this actually isn’t a bad substitute. Also playing Kirby Canvas Curse. And of course a shout out to my homies – The Sims 2 Nightlife was released yesterday. It looks awesome.

Got an email from a high school friend who was living in New Orleans – sounds like he got out (is in NY now), but didn’t get much of his stuff out. I was glad to hear he’s safe – tho it sounds like his life just got a whole lot harder. Gonna try and send him a care package this week. Haven’t talked to Big Daddy lately – not sure how his mom/cousins/aunts/uncles are doing. But it looks like that part of Mississippi took a huge hit from direct destruction as opposed the flooding of New Orleans. The SunHerald has more pics of the Gulf Coast area I visited – many of the buildings and areas were decimated.
