selfish pet peeve?

I’ve gotten no less than four donation requests in the last two weeks from people who are running in marathons, biking a zillion miles or walking for a good cause. I’ll probably give to a couple of them, but I think it’s funny that some of these folks keep me on their list.

I got one from a couple that I haven’t talked to in probably a couple years. I didn’t hear from them when I broke up with my girlfriend asking me how I’m doing… I didn’t hear from them when my cat died or my grandmother passed away. I didn’t hear from them when the weather was nice and I knew they were probably having occasional BBQs over the summer in their beautiful backyard. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t call them either… but I’m also not asking them for money to support a no doubt worthy cause.

This is probably so frightentingly un-PC of me, but I’m kinda tired of getting donation requests from acquaintances (who used to be friends) just because I’m still in their email address book.

Getting my life back, one crash at a time…

Next weekend, I will see friends and do stuff.

This weekend I was a hermit and spent my weekend with Burnout3, a driving game where you get points if you crash into stuff like oil tankers and flatbad trucks. It kicks ass.

I bought food. There is food in my refrigerator. Very odd. I cooked stuff. I ate off of plates with silveware (as opposed to takeout on paper plates and plastic silverware). I cleaned my house a bit. I thought about getting another cat.

But, basically, I achieved my primary goals this weekend – to play games (other than The Sims2) and to eat at home.

Next weekend I will see friends and do stuff.

PS…. The new trailer for The Incredibles is up.

The Gaydar Test

“You personally got 17 of the 20 people correct and were better at recognizing girls than guys. Overall, you guessed better than 94% of all test takers.”

At least I was better at recognizing the girls…. The Gaydar Test

First, there’s a pretty good mini-biography of Will Wright. I’ve only met him a couple times but from what I know about him this is pretty right on.

A friend of mine started a new blog about dating which I may start participating in if when I start dating again. I’m taking September and October off from even considering dating. Too many memories in these two months for me to even consider starting up anything new. For now I’m just going to be content flirting with elegantly beautiful women across the restaurant who would never go out with me. (she was sooooo straight)

Got outta town yesterday to Bass Lake. I didn’t see any bass, but I didn’t really get off my raft much. It was a lovely sunny day – birthday to Boogie’s mom and the Quiggmeister. Felt great to be out in nature and to enjoy the big fiery orb which I have been seeing far too little of lately. Also felt great to see friends, who I have also been seeing far too little of lately.

finally September…

The website that I’ve been working on for over a year and a half launches this month. Most of you have been awesome while I’ve been working a zillion hours and have missed parties, left pub crawls early and fallen asleep while you were over visiting. The end of the 6 day work week will be upon us very very soon and I will be able to say ‘yes’ to plans more often.

I’m extremely fortunate – I have loved what I’ve been doing so much that I haven’t really even minded putting in these crazy hours. Sure, it’s not perfect every day but this has got to be the best job I’ve ever had and it seems to be getting better. I’ve gotten some great recognition from people I’ve grown to respect and as long as I continue on the path that I’ve been on, I have a great future working on cool stuff I couldn’t even imagine working on 3 years ago.

And the website is awesome. My team is really cranking on it – and there are some really cool features that no other websites in our company have ever offered.

By the end of the month my schedule will start to get back to normal a bit. I’ll get some time off in October and November and then it’s on to the next big project. I’m planning on getting a kitten during my time off. Anyone know where I can get a kitten in November?
