save the pinata!

This little movie made one of my co-worker’s 9-year old son cry.

I just laughed. mwahahahah!

life at the Shores

had the first day at the new office yesterday – pros? the gym, the cafeteria, sitting with the game teams (instead of with marketing/hr/finance), my team seems pretty happy, and i’m glad to have my job – it still is a great job.

the cons? my cube.

that’s about how big if feels to me compared to my old office, and while i really like the guys i’m sitting near they are gonna be loud. i’m sitting with the Audio team. at a video game company. they make noise for a living.

i’m sure it’s not that bad – my happiness about having a job still far, far outweigh my unhappiness about my current cubical hell.

added “current tunes…”

for some reason i think that you (yes, you!) should know exactly what i’m listening to at all times… so I’ve added a music ticker thing in the right hand column that tells you what itunes is playing. it will almost certainly be Dirty Vegas since that it my current addiction… damn you, Shvatz!

i used Kung-Tunes. another reason i love my mac….

as James Brown would say…

i feel good! the office move gave me a four-day weekend and i’ve really made the most of it. sure thursday i spent most of the day online quelling rumors, offering info and doing a write up for work, but the other days were all about being with friends and more-than-friends and other assorted wonderful people. each day was special and memorable and i wish they each could have gone on and on.

the emotions i’ve gotten to experience this weekend ranged from angst to joy to passion to humility (is humility an emotion or a state of being?). but the kind of contentment i feel right at this moment is indescribable. maybe it’s just because i had a bath and feel calm and clean and relaxed… but this is so good.

i don’t always stop and appreciate how good and rich my life is – and how easy i have it. i was humbled yesterday listening to people tell stories of growth and disenfranchisement and hardship that i don’t worry about. while it was not always this way, my current life is not a struggle. i have it really good. i’m really lucky. i’m trying to share that out – give to some others, offer some solace, be a friend. it was a good weekend for that.

all that, and i found a new cool utility for my Mac called Quicksilver. it’s like LaunchBar, but free. check out this Quicksilver tutorial to get started.

in other news – i’m going to be redesigning my blog over the next few weeks (yes, again…). since i’ve actually been using it regularly there’s a couple things i want to do like fix the annoying WinXP formatting issue with my CSS, and adding some of my daily reads and junk like that. who knows… maybe there will even be an /about/ section. suggestions? leave me a comment….

gettin’ the shakes…

ok… so the big move day is upon us and my work email is down. they’ve shut down the email server and i swear i don’t remember the last time i was this shaky. i’m a sad case.

petting cat. watching TV. reading the BBS for work. stalking AIM looking for the skull and crossbones.

not that i don’t have plans today – going to do some volunteer work for a website that i worked on before i got my job and have lunch with my contact there. finally going to get measured for my tux. plans tonight that are still undefined, but should be wonderful. rainy day plans for tomorrow – matinee? video games? truthfully i can’t wait for tomorrow – should be a sweet day.

my wierd latin phrase

thanks H. I’m gonna go with the “You are a Star Wars geek…”

If you only knew the power of the dark side.
Postatem obscuri lateris nescitis.
“You do not know the power of the Dark Side.”There are two possibilities: you
are a Star Wars geek, or you are unreasoningly scary.”
Which Weird Latin Phrase Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I have a problem of catastrophic proportions this morning. I’m out of coffee. I just made a cup of earl grey, but i’m skeptical as to whether it will actually be effective.

How could I have let this happen?

tough days

we’re getting down to the wire with the move of my company to the big corporate HQ down the peninsula. boxes everywhere. walls barren. a couple people having last days here and there – thankfully most people are coming. one pal is going off to have a new little baby, but she’ll be back. another pal won’t be back. i’ll miss cruising chicks with him.

fun timewaster link

and you mighta seen it on the Fishwrap, but if not please rank yourself – I was a pitiful 15 out of 40. How can you not love a magazine called Modern Drunkard?
