November 2002

things i’m thankful about…

1. i’m not michael jackson
2. the sims online is coming out soon
3. i have some really good friends and we had some really good food together on thanksgiving
4. if my cat did catch the mouse, he didn’t leave it in my bed
5. that school is almost done
6. i’m mostly pretty healthy and most of the people i know are as well

other than that, everything is pretty up in the air these days. anything could happen in the next couple months. if anyone has a crystal ball and wants to give me some hints that would sure help me sleep better at night.

happy day-after-thanksgiving all.

Help Barbie!

Pick a new career for Barbie. As of now librarian is winning. ick. Go Architect Barbie! (only because there wasn’t an option for Firefighter Barbie – i love a chick in a firefigher uniform…)

well, two jobs applied to today. that brings the total to around 33 so far in this job hunt. and out of that i’ve gotten two interviews. that’s a better percentage than my last job hunt, where i sent out over 300 resumes and got 3 interviews. although i’m somewhat concerned. if i’m only going to get 1 interview for every 100 resumes like last time, than i’m really going to need to work on my percentages….

in other news, i think i succeeded in doing absolutely no homework the whole weekend. clearly that’s next today.

booooooo – the company is months away from even an angel round of funding. bwahahahahaha.

in other news, papers are getting written, exams are being taken and i only have 27 more days until i can’t say “i’m a student” anymore.

Thank god for the engineers…

First I tried to join with others and help search for signs of life in the universe. Then, as part of project for school, I participipated in a distributed computing project to better understand Protein Folding. Now I’ve finally found something to really utilize my spare computer cycles with: SMUTI – the Search for Material to Uncover Terrorist Intelligence. Uses distributed computing like SETI to search the web, usenet, p2p networks etc. for pornographic material that have hidden messages. (thanks to thau!)

31 days left and my interest in doing homework is waning. senioritis is raging. the bloom has come off the rose. send me some good get-those-last-papers done vibes…

is it live or is it Photoshop?

This just seems so very wrong on some levels. Spunky has been looking at me warily since I saw this.

In other news, the countdown has begun. 33 days until my last final. In that time I will write:

— a 12 page paper about Mansfield Park which I hated. ick! due this thursday! haven’t started it.
— a 5 page paper on a topic to be decided for my Eng Survey course. I’m thinkin’ perhaps something about multicultural writers inclusion in the canon.
— a 10 page report on earthquake safety and a 1 pager about my visit to the California Academy of Science today
— a 3 page paper about an art exhibit of my choice! due Monday! and I still haven’t gone to an art exhibit!
— a 7-10 page paper about the political, artistic and sociological implications of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Hey, he said we could write it on anything that interested us…

— plus 3 final exams.

wow. that’s a lot o’ stuff. better get to work…

maybe i should go live in the past. the stuff that keeps popping up for me online seems to have more to do with where i’ve been then where i’m headed. like Yesterdayland, which even has information about Kimba the White Lion, the very first cartoon i remember. or The Wayback Machine, which will let you view archived versions of webpages back to 1998.

Wow, I’m Alexander the Great! And what famous homosexual are you? Eric says there are also women results, but I always wanted to be “Doing it Greek style since 356 BC,” so I’m down with my results.

A hearty hello to my brother who is now one of my faithful readers! Sorry ’bout those Dolphins last night, although being around my hardest core Jets fan/friend didn’t allow me to give your team any real support.

what i’m listening to: KCRW – Santa Monica’s public radio station. Best show: Morning Becomes Eclectic…
