I’m gonna get a T-Shirt

I’m gonna get a T-Shirt that says: “My old company got bought, and all I got was a lousy tax break”. That’s right, Epicentric was sold this week to Vignette for a not-so-whopping $32 M. That’s less than a third of what the VCs put in so the commoners – those of us who actually worked for the company get nothing. I hung my stock certificate on the wall of my room as a cautionary tale….

I needed to do a

I needed to do a conversion of a league to a mile and was led to this Unit Conversion Utilities page. Who knew that a Vodka Bottle was a unit of measurement in Russia? And who knew it equalled 168.7855018 fluid drams.

Can you tell I’m writing a paper?

wow. what an incredible disappointment.

wow. what an incredible disappointment. how did that happen? how did we lose Game 6? we shoulda had it in that one. how did i eat all those chips?

there’s a rally for the Giants today at 1 pm at PacBell Park, but unfortunately there’s also a mid-term for me at SFState at 4 pm.

ok, baseball is over, and there’s always next year, boys. the template is finished (really!) and i have a lot of studying to do this week. the gf is back, but i doubt she’ll even unpack (i don’t even want to think about that one). i’m not finished with the last of the boxes yet, but there are some really big holes in my wall where my closet will be. i learned that the drywall in my apartment is as brittle as brittle can be. i need to find a stud. i need a halloween costume.

Things I have to do

Things I have to do in the next seven days:

  • watch more of the World Series
  • write a 7-10 page paper on the “magic of Place” (don’t ask – i’m not really sure what it means)
  • take two mid-terms (and call me in the morning?)
  • set up Moveable Type for my blog and transfer everything
  • declare the template for my client’s site “finished” and start rebuilding their pages with it
  • miss my gf, and then get ready to miss her some more…
  • unpack the last 7 boxes, including putting up a clothes rod for my hanging stuff
  • two words: resume rewrite

    hmmmm…. don’t see much sleep happening…..

    i’m not going to focus

i’m not going to focus on the fact that we got whupped, nor am i going to wonder if if it’s my fault (”If only I’d watched the game from the Shamrock, we mighta won it…”), but I am going to say that was one of the most fun nights I’ve ever had.

The energy at the ball park was completely different from a normal game – potential filled the air. We were up in the second to last row of the ballpark about 3/4 of the way down the 3rd base line. We had a great view of Barry and Kenny Lofton, and could see clearly when something was going to be a home run. Rich Aurilia’s home run in the 5th was beautiful and got the crowd totally stoked for a rally. Barry knocked one out, too. Always beautiful to see him hit home runs. I was shopping for shwag during the 8th inning, but there wasn’t much hope at that point.

Absolutely worth it. And Kirk Rueter is pitching tonight so we’ve got a great shot at evening up the series again.

    i’m counting down the hours

i’m counting down the hours (7.25) until the game. before the game, i have to read and discuss Death of a Salesman for English… yeah, i’ll get right on that. Sorry, Prof. Caskey: i won’t be in geology tonight.

Livan Hernandez is pitching – which is good – he hasn’t lost a post-season game yet. and the boys will be stoked to be playing at home, i’m sure. It’s a little overcast today so it’ll probably be a chilly night. Still not sure exactly where i’ll be sitting – somewhere in the View section. If you’ve been to PacBell park – you know there really aren’t any crappy seats anyhow.

    Go Giants!!!

    ahhh. blogger. i wonder if

ahhh. blogger. i wonder if it’s some kind of scam that i’m having problems publishing stuff – i get an error message about 80% of the time – something tells me if i pay for the Pro version I won’t have this problem. Blogspot? Diaryland? but I like hosting the pages myself….

Every paper or exam is one step closer to graduation. I’ve now turned in three papers and had one exam. So like 5 papers and 4-5 exams to go. wooohooo! go team!

If i haven’t mentioned it lately, you should check out Friday Fishwrap – http://www.fridayfishwrap.blogspot.com/ MJ updates her site almost every day. unlike me and my lame once or twice a month business.

I did move recently and i’m now living in the heights of the Castro as opposed to the flats. Things I miss about my old ‘hood: Bi-Rite, Tartine and Dolores Park Cafe. Things I don’t miss: Mission High letting out in the afternoon, only being allowed to use two rooms of my home and having to board out my cat. Things I love about new ‘hood: how sweet my new place is, how quiet my street is and my new huge room.
