One paper done, three to

One paper done, three to go. Today I’m procrastinating about my smallpox paper for biology. Smallpox is some pretty scary shit, I tell ya.

So the ACLU is going up against John Ashcroft in front of the Supreme Court. You should read about it. There is a law called the Child Online Protection Act (COPA) and it’s a pretty broad censorship law (passed in 1998. Some of the respondents are sites I love – Riotgrrl, Salon, Planetout and A Different Light Books among others. Read about it. Know your rights.

Sarah McLachlan playing now. And of course Bjork was last.

So, it’s the day after

So, it’s the day after Thanksgiving and I’m procrastinating. I have to write a paper for my history class and I’m really not in the mood. I read a book by Wallace Stegner called “Angle of Repose“. It won the Pulitzer Prize in 1971 and is about a woman who followed her mining engineer husband west in the 19th century. It was a pretty good book, but I’m not really feeling like writing my paper about it. But, I probably will start on it today.

currently listening to Tipsy. last song: PJ Harvey.

Returned from Vegas and while

Returned from Vegas and while I didn’t come back a winner, I did have a pretty decent run on a crap’s table.

If you aren’t already a fan of Alison Bechdel, you should be. The Washington Blade has an archive of her cartoons. I think PlanetOut still runs ‘em, too. My first internet job included scanning her cartoons and posting them to AOL. I thought I was the coolest because I got to talk to her on the phone once in a while.

I finally added a Guestbook

I finally added a Guestbook to my site. Only took 6 years. I used some Perl scripts from Matt’s Script Archive. Go ahead and leave me a message. I dare ya.

Off to Vegas tomorrow to see the fam. I’ll be without email for a couple days which will be a good thing. Trying to wean myself from checking my email all the time. Ever since I stopped working there isn’t that much there anymore that I actually need to deal with right away.

If you haven’t checked it out for a while, you should read PlanetOut News. Still the best gay news out there.

I’ve been trying to study,

I’ve been trying to study, but procrastinating a lot today. Lots of music (current song: Barenaked Ladies – New Kid on the Block; last song: Bjork – Joga) and a burrito from Cancun for lunch. Did some random trolling on Craigslist for a job. Looked at the W4W ads a bit, although I have a girlfriend. We met 8 years ago through a personal ad in the SF Bay Times. We’re old school. There were no online personal ads in those days. I still like to read the ads, tho, and wonder if I know any of the people posting.

Well, since it’s been over

Well, since it’s been over two years since I updated Oddgirl’s Lesbian Links I’ve decided to move to a new format for my site. I’m using Blogger, a web log tool that is really easy to set up and customize. This new format will allow me to post my thoughts and to refer to cool sites that people have sent on to me, both lesbian or queer-focused or just interesting, silly or wierd sites. I’ll probably also post some editorials about what’s happening in my life and the world in general.
